Sunday Afternoon

When we got home from church this afternoon, I took the kids into the back yard to snap a few pics of their color-coordinated outfits.

Aunt Sleigh gave this jumper set to Tater for Christmas. Little Man's boots came from Grandma. How cute!

Baby B wasn't feelin' the photo shoot.

"It's alright, my little sister."

Put a plug in it.

A relative calm...
is replaced by more screaming and an end to the photo session.

Later this afternoon...
Little Man "did time" for cutting his hair.
He seemed remorseful.


Maybe he just didn't want to be in time out. That haircut was less than a week old.

Boy does that bring back memories. My middle son Jon still cuts his own hair, but he has refined his skills. And since he is 26, he doesn't have to sit in the time out chair any more.

Our Church

Check out Pistol Pete's post entitled " The Revolting Church ." Then read what I have to say about our church. We attend a (dare I say it) United Methodist Church. Gasp! I am a child of the Jesus Movement, so the idea of joining the UMC seemed absurd. However, we absolutely love our church. On Friday nights we gather at our UMC for Celebrate Recovery with codependents, victims of abuse, drug, sex, food, and booze addicts... We are able to openly admit that we screw up. Then we accept each other's love and God's grace. Our CR group is one of the largest in the USA. On Sunday mornings, we attend a rocking worship service with many of the same people we meet with on Friday nights. Yardboy recently started playing the drums with the praise band. It is truly a "come as you are" place. We aren't an Emerging Church, but we are emerging from what is considered traditional. Limited Obstetrical Ultrasound

Recently I completed training in limited obstetrical ultrasound at a local crisis pregnancy center. I volunteer on Monday mornings when my kids are in school. Scanning pregnant bellies is awesome! There aren't many things more amazing to see than the first flicker of a heartbeat or tiny hands and feet. I find it hilarious that almost every client comments on how big the baby's head is. Then, they blame the the baby's father, "He's got a big head, just like his daddy." Ha! However, things aren't always cheerful in the ultrasound room. I know from personal experience that it really sucks to be the woman on the table when the person performing an ultrasound says, "That's an empty uterus." It really, really sucks! Now I also know that it really, really sucks to be the person performing an ultrasound when an unborn baby's heartbeat can't be found.
