Sunday Afternoon

When we got home from church this afternoon, I took the kids into the back yard to snap a few pics of their color-coordinated outfits.

Aunt Sleigh gave this jumper set to Tater for Christmas. Little Man's boots came from Grandma. How cute!

Baby B wasn't feelin' the photo shoot.

"It's alright, my little sister."

Put a plug in it.

A relative calm...
is replaced by more screaming and an end to the photo session.

Later this afternoon...
Little Man "did time" for cutting his hair.
He seemed remorseful.


Maybe he just didn't want to be in time out. That haircut was less than a week old.

Boy does that bring back memories. My middle son Jon still cuts his own hair, but he has refined his skills. And since he is 26, he doesn't have to sit in the time out chair any more.

Going to the Specialists

Little Man is an adorable 20 month old with a great smile, tons of blond hair, and big blue eyes. He is also really, really small. At his 18 month checkup he weighed 18 pounds 3 ounces and wore size 6-9 month clothing. He is growing, just very, very slowly. Thankfully, he is developing perfectly. Currently, he weighs about 19 pounds and most of his clothes are size 12 months. When I took him in for his 18 month visit I expected to get a referral to a pediatric endocrinologist to check for growth hormone deficiency. We made that appointment for January 31. What I didn't expect at that visit was a referral to a pediatric cardiologist. Little Man's pediatrician hadn't heard any abnormal heart sounds before. This time he heard a heart murmur. Little Man seems to have no cardiac symptoms. He runs and plays just fine. His color is perfectly pink. I expect the cardiologist to say that the murmur is not a big deal, and that he will grow out of it. We made that appointment for Janu...

Survivor

I sat down tonight to blog about cloth diapers. Yes, we've made the switch to cloth,and yes, we like them. However, that isn't what I need to blog about tonight. I'll save the diaper talk for another post. Friday night I went to my parents church in my hometown to read my recovery story. This is no wimpy, skim the surface testimony. This is down and dirty, warts and all testimony. I even invited several friends who aren't in recovery. I stood in front of about 100 people and shared it all. If you've read my blog at all over the last few years, you know that struggle with anger, depression, codependency, and food addiction. But there is one thing I've kept private. I've never mentioned my biggest, toughest, darkest area of recovery. Friday night I openly spoke about it, so I might as well speak of it here too. YIKES! Here goes...
